How do I add essential oils for scent?Updated 3 hours ago
TL;DR: Essential oils can be added to most products for a subtle scent boost. Around 10 drops in laundry, 2 to 3 drops in Universal Cleaner, foaming cleaners, dish products, or the loo. No citrus oils in foamers (they're fine everywhere else). Less is more, as extra oil clogs valves. All formulas perform exactly the same without oils.

The three essential oils in the range:
Can I add essential oils for scent?
Yes. Essential oils can be added to most products for a subtle scent. Around 10 drops per laundry wash in the fabric softener dispenser, 2 to 3 drops in cleaners, dish products, or the loo. The one exception: no citrus oils in the Foaming Spray Bottle, where they can accelerate wear on the foaming mechanism. Every formula works perfectly without oils, so scent is purely optional.
How many drops should I add to each product?
Dose depends on the product. Around 10 drops into the fabric softener dispenser for laundry, 2 to 3 drops per bottle for Universal Cleaner, foaming cleaners, Dishwashing Liquid, and Loo Cleaner Tablets. Dishwashing Tablets take 1 to 2 drops on top of the tab. Less is more, as too much oil can clog valves.
Laundry products

Sensitive Laundry Liquid and Sheets
Add around 10 drops of essential oil to the fabric softener dispenser on your machine. Leave the softener setting on so the dispenser triggers later in the cycle, which keeps scent from rinsing away early. Lavender Calm and Eucalyptus Oil are popular choices.
✓ Softener dispenser only, no softener product
The fabric softener dispenser on your machine is the spot for oils. Sensitive Laundry Liquid keeps fibres soft on its own, so you don't need an actual softener product, just the oils in the dispenser slot. Sensitive Laundry Sheets work the same way.
Universal Cleaner and Spray Mop

Atomiser Spray Bottle
Mix 2 to 3 drops per full 300 mL Atomiser Spray Bottle. Swirl gently to disperse. More than the recommended dose can build up and clog the fine spray valves.

Spray Mop
Same 2 to 3 drops per tank of Universal Cleaner. Swirl the tank gently before attaching to the mop. Less is more.
Foaming cleaners

Bathroom & Shower Cleaner
Dose 2 to 3 drops per refill into the Foaming Spray Bottle, then swirl to mix. Use Eucalyptus Oil or Lavender Calm. Resinous or thick oils raise clog risk, so go light or skip them.

Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner
Same 2 to 3 drops per refill in the Foaming Spray Bottle. Swirl gently. This formula already cuts heavy grease, so oils are purely for scent, not cleaning power.
⚠ No citrus oils in foamers
Avoid Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil and other citrus oils in the Foaming Spray Bottle. They accelerate wear on the foaming mechanism. This applies to both Bathroom & Shower Cleaner and Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner. Citrus oils are fine in Dishwashing Liquid, Dishwashing Tablets, and the Atomiser Spray Bottle.
Dish products

Dishwashing Liquid
Add 2 to 3 drops directly into the Dish Pump or your squeeze bottle. Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil works especially well, giving a fresh scent while you wash up. Swirl gently to mix.

Dishwashing Tablets
Place 1 to 2 drops on top of the Dishwashing Tablet in the dispenser tray before closing and running the cycle. Heat releases the scent through the wash.
Loo Cleaner Tablets

Loo Cleaner Tablets
Drop 2 to 3 drops of essential oil directly into the toilet bowl after the Loo Cleaner Tablet has dissolved. Oils sit on the water's surface and release scent gradually.
✓ Popular oil pairings for the loo
Eucalyptus Oil and Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil are the most popular choices for the loo. Citrus oils are fine in the bowl, since the foaming restriction only applies to the Foaming Spray Bottle.
What are the best practices for adding essential oils?
Start with fragrance-free product, add oils fresh at each refill (aromas fade in storage), spot test on delicate fabrics or sealed stone if you're unsure, and store oils in a cool, dark place with the cap clean to avoid contamination. Oils intensify over time, so less is always more.

Are essential oils safe around pets?
Not without care. Some essential-oil compounds, found in tea tree, eucalyptus, and citrus oils, can irritate pets in ways that don't affect humans. Don't diffuse or mist around cats, dogs, birds, or small animals. Ventilate thoroughly and consult your vet before introducing any new scent. If oils are spilled, wipe up immediately with mild soap and water.

Every species and breed has different tolerances, so ask your vet first.
