Are Koh sheet and tablet products free from plastic?Updated 2 hours ago
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a water-soluble, biodegradable material commonly used in cleaning products, food packaging, textiles, and even pharmaceuticals. It has been extensively studied and is classified as safe by regulatory bodies like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which continues to support its environmental safety based on decades of research.
Independent, peer-reviewed testing using an OECD 303A wastewater-treatment simulation found that a representative detergent-film grade of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH 18-88) was extensively biodegraded during treatment. Averaging ~97% removal in the plateau phase of the study. This study also reported minimal sorption to sludge (meaning any small remainder leaves in effluent) and used US EPA E-FAST and EU EUSES models to show environmental exposures well below effect thresholds.
We chose PVA to make them friendlier for people with asthma by reducing direct exposure to cleaning agents while ensuring a mess-free, effective clean.
For additional peace of mind, our cleaning products are GECA-certified, meaning they meet strict environmental and health standards. The Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) certification ensures that our formulas are free from harmful chemicals, have a lower impact on aquatic life, and avoid ingredients that may cause respiratory or skin irritation. GECA also ensures ethical manufacturing, fair labor practices, and compliance with environmental legislation.
While we’re always committed to improving sustainability, PVA remains one of the safest and most effective materials available for delivering our high-performance cleaning solutions.
