Can I use Diamond Sponge with Bathroom & Shower Cleaner?Updated 6 hours ago

TL;DR: Yes. Diamond Sponge works with Bathroom & Shower Cleaner for tackling extreme build-up, hardened soap scum, and stubborn grime. It's a serious abrasive though, so save it for last resort. Start with Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt, step up to Scrubby Pads if that doesn't shift it, and only reach for Diamond Sponge for the really stuck stuff. Never on chrome, plastics, stainless steel, or coated surfaces.

Can I use Diamond Sponge with Bathroom & Shower Cleaner?

Yes. Diamond Sponge pairs well with Bathroom & Shower Cleaner for the toughest bathroom build-up: hardened soap scum, limescale rings, neglected grout lines, and mineral deposits on glazed tiles. The foam softens the grime, the sponge mechanically lifts it off. It's the most aggressive scrubbing tool in the Koh range, so think of it as last-resort, not everyday.

Which tool should I reach for first?

Work your way up the abrasion scale. Start with the gentlest tool that gets the job done. Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt handles 90% of bathroom cleaning (general soap scum, body oils, day-to-day grime). For stuck-on or thicker build-up, step up to Scrubby Pads. Only bring out Diamond Sponge when the first two haven't shifted it. Going in with the most abrasive option risks damaging a surface you didn't need to.

1

Start here

Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt. Effective for everyday bathroom cleaning. Gentle on surfaces.

Everyday use
2

Step up

Scrubby Pads. More abrasive but still safe for most sealed bathroom surfaces.

Stuck-on grime
3

Last resort

Diamond Sponge. Extremely powerful abrasive. Extreme build-up only. Use with care.

Extreme only

How should I use Diamond Sponge safely?

Wet the sponge first (never use dry, it increases abrasion). Spray Bathroom & Shower Cleaner onto the target area and let the foam sit for 5 to 10 minutes to soften build-up. Spot test first in a hidden area. Use gentle circular motion with light pressure: the sponge does the work, not your arm. Rinse the surface thoroughly afterwards and check for any dulling or marks. Stop immediately if you see any surface change.

✓ Four-step method

1

Spot test first. Hidden area. Gentle pressure. Check for dulling or scratches before going wider.

2

Wet the sponge. Always. Dry use increases abrasion and surface risk.

3

Foam and dwell. Spray, let it sit 5 to 10 minutes so the product softens the build-up.

4

Gentle circles, light pressure. The sponge does the work. Rinse thoroughly. Stop at any sign of surface change.

What surfaces should I never use it on?

Diamond Sponge will leave microabrasions on anything shiny, soft, or coated. Never use on plastic (shower screens, toilet cisterns, tap handles), chrome or polished metal fittings, stainless steel, powder-coated surfaces, painted or gel-coat finishes, acrylic or fibreglass baths and shower trays, mirrors, or any surface with an aftermarket protective coating like EnduroShield. Stick to Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt for anything on this list.

⚠ Never on these surfaces

Plastic (shower screens, cisterns, handles), chrome, polished metal, stainless steel, powder-coated surfaces, painted or gel-coat finishes, acrylic or fibreglass baths and trays, mirrors, any aftermarket protective coating. Use Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt instead.

No plastics No chrome No stainless steel No coatings No mirrors No painted finishes
