Can I add essential oils for a fragrance?Updated 16 hours ago
TL;DR: You can add Koh essential oils to most Koh products for a subtle scent boost. Around 10 drops in laundry, 2 to 3 drops in Universal Cleaner, foaming cleaners, dish products, or the loo. No citrus oils in foamers (they are fine everywhere else). Less is more, as extra oil clogs valves. All products work exactly the same without oils.
Koh essential oils
Laundry

Sensitive Laundry Liquid / Sheets
Add around 10 drops of essential oil to the fabric softener dispenser. Leave the machine's softener setting on. This releases the scent later in the cycle so it is less likely to rinse away early. Lavender Calm and Eucalyptus are popular choices for laundry.
Skip fabric softener
Sensitive Laundry Liquid keeps fibres soft on its own. No need for a separate softener product. Sensitive Laundry Sheets work the same way.
Universal Cleaner

Atomiser Spray Bottle
Mix 2 to 3 drops per full 300 mL Atomiser Spray Bottle. Swirl gently to disperse. Using more than the recommended dose can build up and clog the fine spray valves.

Spray Mop
Same 2 to 3 drops per tank of Universal Cleaner. Swirl the tank gently before attaching. Less is more.
Foaming cleaners

Bathroom & Shower Cleaner
Dose 2 to 3 drops per refill into the Foaming Spray Bottle, then swirl. Use Eucalyptus or Lavender Calm. Resinous or thick oils raise clog risk, so go light or skip them.

Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner
Same 2 to 3 drops per refill in the Foaming Spray Bottle. Swirl gently. This product already cuts heavy grease, so oils are purely for scent.
No citrus oils in foamers
Avoid Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil and other citrus oils in the Foaming Spray Bottle. They accelerate wear on the foaming mechanism. This applies to both Bathroom & Shower Cleaner and Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner. Citrus oils are fine in Dishwashing Liquid, Dishwashing Tablets, and the Atomiser.
Dish

Dishwashing Liquid
Add 2 to 3 drops directly into the Dish Pump or squeeze bottle. Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil works particularly well here, giving a fresh scent while you wash up. Swirl gently to mix.

Dishwashing Tablets
Place 1 to 2 drops on top of the Dishwashing Tablet in the dispenser tray before closing and running the cycle. The heat releases the scent through the wash.
Loo

Loo Cleaner Tablets
Drop 2 to 3 drops of essential oil directly into the toilet bowl after the Loo Cleaner Tablet has dissolved. The oils sit on the water's surface and release scent gradually.
Works well with
Eucalyptus Oil and Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil are popular choices for the loo. Citrus oils are also fine in the bowl.
Best practices
Start with fragrance-free product for a clean scent base.
Add oils fresh each refill. Aromas fade in storage.
Spot test on delicate fabrics or sealed stone if uncertain.
Store oils in a cool, dark place and keep the cap clean to prevent contamination.
Pet safety
Essential oils and pets
Certain essential oil compounds, like tea tree and some citrus oils, can irritate animals in ways that do not affect humans. Do not diffuse or mist around pets. Ventilate thoroughly before letting pets back in. Wipe up spills immediately and rinse with mild soap and plenty of water. Every species and breed has different tolerances, so ask your vet first.
Prefer zero scent?
Simply leave the oils out. All Koh formulas perform flawlessly without them. Every product is fragrance-free by design.
