Can I add essential oils to my dishwasher?Updated a day ago

TL;DR: One or two drops of Koh essential oil on top of your Dishwashing Tab gives a light scent. Put the drops on the tab itself, not into the dispenser, the machine interior or onto the rubber seals. Stick to one or two drops. More than that can leave residue or streaks on glassware, and over time excess oil can affect door gaskets and seals.

How do I add essential oils?

Load the dishwasher as normal and place a Koh Dishwashing Tab in the detergent compartment. Add one or two drops of Koh essential oil directly onto the top surface of the tab, then close the compartment and run your usual cycle. Keep the drops on the tab. Don't pour oil into the dispenser, the machine interior or onto rubber seals, and don't let it drip down the side of the compartment. One or two drops is the whole dose, and used that sparingly it won't change how the tab cleans.

Load and place the tab. Load the dishwasher as normal. Put a Dishwashing Tab in the detergent compartment.

Add one or two drops on top. Place the drops of Koh essential oil directly onto the top surface of the tab. Don't drip into the compartment or onto the seal.

Close the compartment. Keep oil off the dispenser walls, the machine interior and the rubber seals.

Run the cycle. Wash as you normally would. Light scent, no change to how the tab cleans.

How much is too much?

One or two drops is the dose, and there is nothing to gain by going past it. Excess oil can leave residue or streaks on glassware and cutlery, and over time it can affect the rubber seals and door gaskets inside the machine. If you notice residue, streaking or a scent that won't rinse off, cut the dose back or skip the oil for that wash. Never pour oil straight into the dispenser or the machine interior. Store essential oils out of reach of children and pets.

Which oils work best?
