How do I use Bathroom & Shower Cleaner?Updated 23 minutes ago

TL;DR: Bathroom & Shower Cleaner is ready to use, not a concentrate. Decant it straight into Foaming Spray Bottle via the tap at the base of the refill box, as it comes, filling to just below the shoulder so the pump has an air gap to work with. No water, no measuring, no mixing it with anything else. For a light clean, lay down two foam lines in a criss-cross across the surface. For heavy build-up, add two diagonals to make a star. Let it sit 2 to 10 minutes depending on how bad it is, then wipe and rinse. One box refills the bottle six times.

Is Bathroom & Shower Cleaner a concentrate?

Koh Bathroom & Shower Cleaner is a ready-to-use formula, not a concentrate. It ships in a bag-in-box, a cardboard outer with a flexible bladder and a tap at the base. Decant it into Foaming Spray Bottle via the tap, exactly as it comes out of the box. Adding water thins the formula and it will not clean as well. Do not mix it with other cleaning products either, because combining products can knock out the ingredients doing the work.

⚠ Ready to use, so do not water it down

There is no dilution ratio to get right, because there is no dilution. The formula is built to work at the strength it leaves the box at, and every splash of water you add takes it further from that.

The same goes for topping the bottle up with another product. Mixing cleaners is how you end up with something that foams less, cleans less and behaves in a way nobody has tested. One product, one bottle.

How do I fill the Foaming Spray Bottle?

Unscrew the foaming head from Foaming Spray Bottle and hold the bottle, not the box, under the tap at the base of the refill box. Pull the tap forward and decant up to the fill line, leaving a small air gap so the foaming pump has air to draw. Screw the head back on firmly and give the pump a couple of primes. One box refills the bottle six times.

✓ Fill it in three steps

1

Open the tap, open the bottle. Unscrew the foaming head and pull the tap at the base of the refill box forward. Hold the bottle, not the box, while you fill.

2

Decant to the fill line. Leave a small air gap at the top. A foaming pump needs air as well as liquid, so a bottle filled to the brim will spit rather than foam.

3

Screw the head back on firmly. Give the pump a couple of primes and it's ready.

Koh Foaming Spray Bottle

Foaming Spray Bottle

The foaming pump bottle Bathroom & Shower Cleaner is designed to go in. Refill it from the box rather than replacing it, and grab a spare when the pump eventually wears out.

⚠ If the bottle stops foaming properly

Dried product can build up in the nozzle after a stretch without use.

Submerge the head in warm water and pump it 12 times to clear it. Rinse the bottle out with warm water before a refill and it rarely happens at all.

How much foam should I spray?

Two foam lines in a criss-cross across the surface, one horizontal and one vertical, is enough for a light to moderate clean. For heavy soap scum or limescale, add two diagonal lines so the pattern reads as a star. Do not drown the surface. More foam does not clean better, it just leaves more to rinse off. Let the foam sit, spread it with dampened Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt, then wipe and rinse with water.

✓ Light to moderate clean

Two foam lines in a criss-cross. One horizontal across the surface, one vertical. Spread it out with the block colour side of dampened Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt, let it sit, then wipe and rinse.

Two foam lines Criss-cross

✓ Heavy build-up

Add two diagonal lines so the pattern makes a star. More coverage, longer time on the surface, then the striped scrubby side of dampened Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt for anything still holding on.

Star pattern Longer dwell

⚠ More foam is not more clean

Emptying half the bottle onto a shower screen does not shift grime faster. It just means a longer rinse and a box that runs out sooner. What actually moves the needle is even coverage and time on the surface, which is why the criss-cross exists.

How long should the foam sit before I rinse?

Leave the foam 2 to 3 minutes for a weekly clean, around 5 minutes for moderate soap scum, and up to 10 minutes for heavy build-up or limescale. Longer time on the surface means less scrubbing. Do not let the foam dry out completely, and re-spray if it starts to go dry on a warm wall. Wipe with Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt, then rinse the surface with water. Bathroom & Shower Cleaner is rinsed off rather than wiped dry.

Weekly maintenance

2 to 3 minutes

Criss-cross, spread, wait, rinse. No scrubbing required.

Moderate soap scum

Around 5 minutes

Criss-cross, spread, wait, then a light pass with the striped side.

Heavy build-up

Up to 10 minutes

Star pattern, re-spray if it starts to dry, then scrub and rinse well.

✓ Finish with a rinse, every time

This is a foam and rinse product. Rinse the surface down with water after wiping rather than buffing the foam off dry, or you will see streaking on glass and a film on tiles. Drying glass afterwards is what gets you the streak-free finish.
