How do I wash and care for Tea Towels?Updated 3 days ago
TL;DR: Machine wash Tea Towels at approximately 40 degrees with Sensitive Laundry Liquid or Sensitive Laundry Sheets. No fabric softener, bleach, or dryer sheets. Line-dry or tumble on low. Wash separately from linty items to keep absorbency high.
Washing
How to wash
Temperature: Wash at approximately 40 degrees for the best balance of cleanliness and fibre life.
Detergent: Sensitive Laundry Liquid or Sensitive Laundry Sheets. Avoid powder detergents that can leave residue.
Wash separately from lint-producing fabrics like cotton towels or fleece, especially for the first few washes. Ideally wash with other microfibre items only.
Avoid
No fabric softener or dryer sheets. These coat the microfibre and reduce absorbency.
No bleach. Bleach damages microfibre and shortens the towel's life.
No ironing. Ironing can melt or flatten the microfibre surface.
Drying and restoring absorbency
Drying
Line-dry preferred to preserve fibres and absorbency.
Tumble-dry on low if you use a dryer. Avoid high heat.
Restoring absorbency
If towels start to feel less absorbent, wash them with a cup of white vinegar (no detergent) to strip residue, then run a second wash with detergent as normal.
Store towels completely dry. Trim any loose threads rather than pulling them to prevent snags.
