What ingredients are in Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner?Updated a day ago
TL;DR: Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner has 15 ingredients. Surfactants and an alkaline builder do the lifting, ethanol flashes off so metal dries streak-free, two enzymes (lipase and protease) work on fats and cooked-on protein, and a water softener, a thickener, a preservative pair, Vitamin E and citric acid round it out. Full list below, with what each one is for. Made in Australia.
What’s in Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner?
15 ingredients. What each one is for.
Made in Australia. Two enzymes.
Aqua (Deionised Water)
Deionised water, filtered to remove the minerals that leave spots.
Ethanol
The solvent. Evaporates fast, so metal dries streak-free.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Breaks up cooking grease so a cloth carries it off instead of smearing it.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Helps the foam creep into grime rather than sit on it.
Sodium Xylene Sulfonate
Stabilises the foam so it clings to a vertical rangehood.
Sodium Metasilicate Pentahydrate
The alkaline builder. It's what cuts through cooking grease and organic matter, making it easier to clean.
Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate
Binds hard-water minerals so they do not leave a chalky film.
Polyacrylic Acid Sodium Salt
Holds lifted grime in the foam so it wipes away.
Xanthan Gum
Gives the foam body so it stays put on a splashback.
Lipase
An enzyme that breaks down fats and oils.
Protease
An enzyme that breaks down protein. Splattered meat, baked-on egg.
Methylchloroisothiazolinone
A preservative. Keeps the bottle stable for 12 months.
Methylisothiazolinone
The other half of the preservative pair, always used with the one above.
Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)
An antioxidant.
Citric Acid
Fine-tunes the pH and breaks down mineral deposits.
