Why isn't my spray bottle working?Updated 9 days ago

TL;DR: Clear the nozzle and check you're using a compatible fill, those fix most issues. If it's still not working, contact us with a short video of the problem and we'll arrange a replacement under warranty.

Which spray bottle do I have?

Koh has three different spray bottles, and the troubleshooting steps are slightly different for each. The Foaming Spray Bottle has a green trigger, produces foam, and has no weighted ball on the inner tube. It's used with Bathroom & Shower Cleaner, Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner, and Stain Remover. The Atomiser Spray Bottle has a translucent white trigger, sprays a fine mist, and has a weighted ball on the inner tube that allows 360-degree spraying (you can spray it upside down). It's used with Universal Cleaner. The Spray Mop Bottle is a translucent green refillable bottle that clips into the Spray Mop holster. Twist to remove. It's used with Universal Cleaner via the spray mop mechanism.

How do I clear the nozzle?

A blocked nozzle is the most common cause of dribbling, weak spray, or no output at all. The fix is the same across the Foaming Spray Bottle and Atomiser. Remove the trigger head from the bottle. Rinse the trigger head under warm running water for around 30 seconds, paying attention to the spray nozzle and the bottom of the dip tube where it draws fluid. Pump clean water through the trigger head several times until the spray pattern is clear and consistent. Reattach to the bottle (or to a clean bottle of warm water for a final test) and check the spray. If the trigger feels stiff, output is still uneven after clearing, or the mechanism makes unusual sounds, the trigger head may have a fault and you'll want to start a warranty claim. For Spray Mop Bottle issues, the bottle itself rarely fails, the issue is more often the spray mechanism inside the mop handle. Try the same nozzle-clear approach on the mop's spray output, and if that doesn't help, contact us.

A blocked nozzle is the most common cause of dribbling or weak spray. Try this first.

✓ Three steps

1

Remove the trigger head and rinse it under warm running water for around 30 seconds.

2

Pump clean water through several times until the spray is clear and consistent.

3

Reattach to the bottle and test.

If the trigger feels stiff or output is still uneven after clearing, the mechanism may be faulty. Skip to the warranty section below.

Am I using a compatible fill?

Not all Koh products are compatible with every spray bottle. Using the wrong product can block or damage the mechanism, and is the second most common cause of issues after a blocked nozzle. The Foaming Spray Bottle is compatible with Bathroom & Shower Cleaner, Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner, and Stain Remover. The Atomiser Spray Bottle is compatible with Universal Cleaner. Two now-discontinued products that customers may have left over have been replaced. Universal Laundry Liquid has been replaced by Sensitive Laundry Liquid, which dispenses via the Laundry Pump or Laundry Dosing Cup, NOT the Foaming Spray Bottle (the formula is too viscous for the foamer mechanism). Universal Dish Spray has been replaced by Dishwashing Liquid, which dispenses via the Dish Pump and pairs with Swedish Dishcloths, NOT the Foaming Spray Bottle. If your bottle has been used with one of these incompatible fills, the foamer mechanism may be permanently affected, contact us if a thorough nozzle-clear doesn't restore it.

What if it's still not working?

If you've cleared the nozzle and confirmed you're using a compatible fill but the bottle still isn't working, it's likely a manufacturing fault and we'll arrange a replacement under warranty. To start a claim, you'll need a short video of the issue (10-20 seconds is usually enough), a photo of the bottle and trigger head, and your order number. Submit these via the warranty claim form. We aim to respond within 1-2 business days. Koh's product quality guarantee covers manufacturing defects on tools and packaging.
