What is Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt made of?Updated 2 hours ago
TL;DR: Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt has two specialised microfibre faces (600 GSM lather side, 500 GSM scrub side), a water-resistant PU foam lining bonded to tricot, and a snug elasticated cuff. The mixed synthetic construction means kerbside recycling is rare, so maximise lifespan through proper care.

What is Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt made of?
Two specialised microfibre faces. The lather side is a 600 GSM plush weave (70% polyester, 15% polyamide, 15% polypropylene). The scrub side is a 500 GSM ground-yarn blend (75% polyester, 25% polyamide). Inside, a water-resistant PU foam lining bonded to tricot fabric keeps your hand dry, and an elasticated knit cuff holds the mitt snug on your wrist.
Lather side
600 GSM plush weave. 70% polyester, 15% polyamide, 15% polypropylene. Whips Bathroom & Shower Cleaner into rich foam. The polypropylene content speeds up drying.
Scrub and buff side
500 GSM ground-yarn blend. 75% polyester, 25% polyamide. Striped texture for extra bite on soap scum without scratching surfaces.
Water-resistant lining
PU foam bonded to tricot fabric on the inside of the mitt. Keeps your hand dry even during heavy scrubbing or extended use under running water.
Elastic cuff
Elasticated knit that hugs the wrist so the mitt doesn't slip during scrubbing. Gives better control and keeps water from running down your arm.
Why does each side use different materials?
The polyester and polyamide ratios change from side to side to balance softness and scrubbing power. The added polypropylene on the lather face speeds up drying, which helps prevent odour. The water-resistant PU foam layer stops water soaking through to your hand, and the elastic cuff locks everything in place for better control during scrubbing.
Built around the bathroom job
The lather side maximises soft contact with wet surfaces so cleaner foams up quickly. The scrub side uses a firmer, striped weave to grip soap scum and mineral deposits without scratching tiles, glass, or enamel. The dry-hand lining and snug cuff mean the mitt stays comfortable and controlled even when working on a full shower clean.
Can Ultra Pro Bathroom Mitt be recycled?
Not through kerbside recycling. The mixed synthetic construction (multiple fibre types plus bonded PU foam) means most council collection programs can't process it. Maximise its lifespan through proper washing, then retire old mitts to grout scrubbing or outdoor duty for second-life use. Dispose in general waste at end of life.
⚠ Not kerbside recyclable
Multiple synthetic fibres (polyester, polyamide, polypropylene) plus a bonded PU foam lining make this a mixed-material product. Most kerbside programs only accept single-material textiles or specific fibre types, so this goes in general waste at end of life.
✓ Maximise lifespan and find a second life
Machine wash at up to 40 degrees with Sensitive Laundry Liquid. No bleach, no fabric softener, no high-heat dryer. Rinse after each use. When it's past its prime for bathrooms, retire the mitt to grout scrubbing, outdoor furniture, or garden jobs before disposal.
