Can I add essential oils to Sensitive Body Wash?Updated 3 hours ago
TL;DR: No. Essential oils won't blend into Sensitive Body Wash. Oil and water don't mix, so the oil will sit on top of the formula rather than integrating. It won't deliver scent the way you'd expect, and it can degrade the inside of the pump bottle over time. The fragrance-free formula is intentional.
Why won't essential oils work in Sensitive Body Wash?
⚠ They won't mix in
Essential oils are not water-soluble. Added to an aqueous formula like Sensitive Body Wash, they sit on top rather than blending through. Because the oil can't integrate, it won't release scent consistently when you use the product. You'd be adding something without getting the outcome you're looking for.
⚠ They can damage the bottle
Undiluted oils can degrade polypropylene over time. The Body Wash Pump bottle is polypropylene, and prolonged contact with concentrated oils can affect its interior and pump mechanism. We'd recommend against it.
Why is Sensitive Body Wash fragrance-free?
Fragrance is one of the most common causes of skin reactions, especially for people with sensitive or eczema-prone skin. The formula leaves it out by design. Adding essential oils would work against that intent, and since the oils won't integrate into the formula anyway, there's no upside. If scent is important to you, it's worth exploring whether the formula is the right fit rather than modifying it.
