TL;DR: You can add a fabric softener if you'd like to. Sensitive Laundry Liquid is formulated with cellulase, an enzyme that helps natural fibres keep their as-new feel and stay softer for longer, so plenty of people find they don't need a separate softener. It's your call either way.
Can I add a fabric softener to the wash?

Nothing in Sensitive Laundry Liquid stops you adding a fabric softener. Some people like the scent, some like the feel on towels, and both are fair reasons. If you'd rather skip it, you're not missing a step.
✓ What cellulase does
Cellulase is one of the enzymes in the formula. It works on the tiny loose fibres that build up on natural fibres wash after wash, which is what helps cotton keep its as-new feel and stay softer for longer. That's why a lot of customers stop reaching for a separate softener.
Where does the softener go?
✓ Two compartments, not one
- Dose Sensitive Laundry Liquid into the main detergent drawer, or straight into the drum before you load. A normal load of 3 to 6 kg takes 24 mL, which is 6 full pumps of the Laundry Pump or the 24 mL marker on the Laundry Dosing Cup.
- Put the softener in the softener compartment, usually marked with a flower or a star. Your machine holds it back and releases it during the rinse, which is where softener is meant to act.
- Follow the softener manufacturer's dose. It's their product, so their instructions apply.
Keeping them in separate compartments is just how the machine is designed to run. It's the same advice you'd get for any detergent.
What if the washing still feels stiff?
✓ Three things to try first
- Give the drum room. An overpacked machine can't rinse properly, and washing that hasn't rinsed out feels stiffer no matter what you put in it.
- Match the dose to the load. 16 mL or 4 pumps for a small or lightly soiled load under 3 kg, 24 mL or 6 pumps for a normal 3 to 6 kg load, 40 mL or 10 pumps for a large or heavily soiled load over 6 kg.
- Shake things out before they dry. A quick shake as you hang each item, and bringing towels off the line before they go bone hard in full sun, does more for the feel than anything you add to the wash.
