Can I use Sensitive Laundry Sheets on wool?Updated 8 days ago
TL;DR: Sensitive Laundry Sheets are not recommended for wool, silk, cashmere, or other protein fibres. The formula includes protease, an enzyme that can weaken these fibres over time. Use a wool-safe, enzyme-free detergent instead.
Why wool and silk are different
Not recommended for protein fibres
Wool and similar fabrics are protein fibres made of keratin. Sensitive Laundry Sheets contain protease, an enzyme that targets protein stains like blood and sweat. With repeated use, protease can also act on the fibre itself, weakening wool over time. The rest of the cleaning ingredients are fine for most fabrics, but the enzyme blend makes the product unsuitable for wool.
What to use instead
Choose a wool-safe, enzyme-free detergent. Wash cold or cool on a gentle cycle or handwash. Use a mesh laundry bag, select low spin, and dry flat away from heat.
If you used a sheet by mistake
Rinse the garment well in cool water.
Rewash with a wool-safe detergent on a gentle cycle.
Avoid heat until the fabric looks and feels normal.
Other fibres to treat like wool
Avoid Sensitive Laundry Sheets on cashmere, alpaca, silk, and other protein fibres. For everything else, do a quick spot test if you are unsure.
