Can I use Stain Remover on carpets, rugs, or lounges?Updated 12 days ago
TL;DR: Stain Remover is for laundry use only. It must be rinsed out in a full wash cycle, so it's not suitable for direct use on carpets, rugs, or lounges. For spot cleaning, use Sensitive Laundry Liquid in a spot cleaner or wet vac, or pre-treat with Stain Remover before running the machine.
Why we don't recommend Stain Remover on its own
- Needs full rinse & wash: The enzymes are designed to be removed during a machine cycle. Soft furnishings can trap residue.
- Risk of marks or colour shift: Leaving product in the pile can lead to re-soiling, odour, or colour changes.
What we recommend instead
For spot cleaning carpets, rugs, or lounges (excluding wool or delicate fibres), use a handheld spot cleaner or wet vac with Sensitive Laundry Liquid:
- Add 1 pump (4ml) of Sensitive Laundry Liquid per 1L of warm water in the machine tank
- Run the spot cleaner over the stained area as the manufacturer recommends
- Allow to dry fully
For heavier stains: pre-treat first
For tougher stains, pre-spray Stain Remover directly onto the fabric and allow it to dwell briefly before running the spot cleaner. The machine rinse step replaces the need for a full wash cycle in this method.
Sensitive Laundry Liquid contains enzymes such as protease, which help break down protein-based stains while being gentler than concentrated stain treatments. Because these enzymes target proteins, the formula is not suitable for protein-based fibres such as wool or silk.
Important
- Do not use on wool or delicate fibres.
- Always spot test first in an inconspicuous area.
- Results may vary depending on fabric type and stain.
