How is Sensitive Laundry Liquid certified for sustainability?Updated an hour ago

TL;DR: Sensitive Laundry Liquid is recognised by three independent bodies: GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia), certified June 2026, Sensitive Choice (National Asthma Council Australia), and Dermatest. Beyond cert bodies, it's septic compatible and suitable for grey water when used as directed, packed in bag-in-box (less plastic than bottles), made in Victoria, Australia, and uses RSPO-certified surfactant suppliers.

Is it GECA-certified?

Yes. Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid has been GECA certified since June 2026. GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) is Australia's only multi-sector ecolabel and a not-for-profit certification body, and it audits products against published standards covering ingredients, packaging, manufacturing, and performance. GECA certification is assessed per product rather than across a brand, so each Koh product holds its own licence rather than inheriting one. Koh's full liquid cleaning range and both tab products are GECA certified. Sensitive Laundry Sheets are the only Koh cleaning product not currently certified.

What independent certifications does it currently hold?

Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid currently holds three independent certifications. GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia), certified June 2026, audits the product against published environmental standards covering ingredients, packaging, manufacturing, and performance. Sensitive Choice approval from the National Asthma Council Australia (renewed September 2025) recognises the product as suitable for people with asthma and allergies, after review by an independent expert panel. The Dermatest seal (renewed September 2025) is awarded after patch testing on a panel of subjects with skin reactions monitored over 24, 48, and 72 hours. Sensitive Laundry Liquid carries the seal at the highest tier, excellent skin tolerability. All three are renewed periodically. Septic compatibility is not a certification and is not assessed by any of these bodies.

✓ GECA certified

GECA is Australia's only multi-sector ecolabel, recognised under ISO 14024. The standard covers ingredients, packaging, manufacturing, and performance rather than a single attribute, and products are independently audited at certification and every four years on renewal. Sensitive Laundry Liquid has been certified since June 2026.

✓ Sensitive Choice approved

Sensitive Choice is a program from the National Asthma Council Australia. Products carrying the blue butterfly logo have been reviewed by an independent expert panel for their potential benefit to people with asthma and allergies. Sensitive Laundry Liquid approval was renewed September 2025.

✓ Dermatest seal

Dermatest is an independent German dermatology institute that has tested skin-contact products since 1978. Products are assessed via patch testing on a panel of subjects, with skin monitored for reactions over 24, 48, and 72 hours. Seals are awarded at three levels: Good, Very Good, and Excellent. Sensitive Laundry Liquid carries the seal at the top tier, excellent skin tolerability, renewed September 2025.

What other sustainability features does it have?

Beyond independent cert bodies, Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid has several sustainability properties customers commonly ask about. The packaging is bag-in-box, which uses around 80 percent less plastic than equivalent bottle packaging. The product is septic compatible and suitable for grey water when used as directed, which means it can be used in homes with septic systems and reused on garden water. The formula uses readily biodegradable surfactants sourced from RSPO-certified suppliers (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), which addresses one of the most environmentally significant parts of any cleaning product supply chain. The product is concentrated, giving 60 washes per 1.5L box, which reduces freight emissions per wash compared to dilute liquid detergents. Manufactured in Victoria, Australia, which means a short domestic supply chain rather than international freight.

Around 80 percent less plastic than equivalent bottle packaging. The cardboard outer is curbside recyclable; the inner bag goes to soft plastics recycling at major supermarkets.

✓ Septic compatible

Suitable for use in homes with septic systems, and for grey water reuse on the garden, when used as directed. Readily biodegradable surfactants break down quickly in waste water.

✓ RSPO-certified suppliers

Surfactants are sourced from suppliers certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), which addresses one of the most significant parts of cleaning product supply chains.

✓ Made in Victoria, Australia

Short domestic supply chain rather than international freight. 60-wash concentration means less product freighted per load compared to dilute detergents.
