What fabrics can I use Stain Remover on?Updated 5 hours ago

TL;DR: Stain Remover is safe on cotton, polyester, nylon, linen, denim, and most common household fabrics. Avoid on wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca, and other protein fibres. Spot-test first on rayon, viscose, and any delicate or unfamiliar fabric.

How do enzymes and fabric interact?

✓ Enzymes are highly selective

Enzymes are highly selective. Each one only targets a specific type of molecule. Stain Remover contains six enzymes. Five break down stain molecules (proteins, starches, fats, fruit residues, and gums). The sixth, cellulase, actively cares for cotton by removing microscopic pilling and worn surface fibres. That selectivity makes Stain Remover gentler on most fabrics than bleach-based or harsh chemical stain removers. Two exceptions to be aware of: protease can weaken protein fibres like wool and silk over repeated use, and cellulase can affect delicate cellulose-based fabrics like rayon and viscose over time.

Which fabrics are safe to use it on?

✓ Safe to use on

Cotton, denim, and cotton blends (cellulase actively benefits cotton care)

  Linen and flax-based fabrics

Polyester, nylon, acrylic, and other synthetic fibres

  Microfibre and technical sportswear

  Lyocell, Tencel, and modal blends

Which fabrics need extra care?

⚠ Avoid on

Wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, and other protein fibres. These fabrics are built from keratin or similar proteins, which protease can break down. Repeated use weakens the fibre and dulls the surface.

✓ Spot-test first on

Rayon, viscose, and any delicate or unfamiliar fabric. These cellulose-based fabrics can be sensitive to cellulase with repeated use, and they're more fragile when wet than cotton. Test on a hidden seam before treating visible areas, just like you would with any pre-treatment product.

Rayon Viscose Delicate trims Unknown blends

How do I spot-test?

✓ Spot-test in 3 steps

1

Spray a small amount on a hidden seam or inside hem.

2

Wait 5 to 10 minutes, rinse with cool water, and pat dry.

3

Check for colour change, weakening, or distortion. If the fabric looks and feels normal, you're good to treat the stain.

What if I used it on wool or silk by mistake?

⚠ What to do

1

Rinse the area immediately with cool water.

2

Handwash gently with a mild detergent suitable for delicates.

3

Avoid heat until you're sure the fabric looks and feels normal. A single accidental spray is usually recoverable with prompt rinsing.
