What can I use Universal Cleaner on?Updated 9 hours ago
TL;DR: Universal Cleaner is a no-rinse multipurpose cleaner for 20+ surfaces around the home: kitchens, bathrooms, glass and mirrors, tiles and grout, floors, and soft furnishings (spot test first). Not suitable for soft metals (zinc, copper, brass), raw aluminium, or aftermarket window tints. Always spot test on unknown surfaces.

What surfaces can I use Universal Cleaner on?
Universal Cleaner works on most hard surfaces around the home: kitchen benchtops, splashbacks, ovens, stovetops (including induction), bathroom tiles and grout, showers, bathtubs, sinks, tapware, glass and mirrors, and most sealed floor types (hardwood, laminate, tile, sealed stone). It also handles spot-cleaning on carpets, rugs, upholstery, and leather, but always spot test these first.
✓ Kitchen
Benchtops, splashbacks, ovens, stovetops (including induction cooktops), rangehoods, sinks, cabinet faces, and the inside of the fridge.
✓ Bathroom
Tiles, grout, showers, bathtubs, sinks, tapware, vanity tops, mirrors, and toilet exteriors. Cuts through soap scum and mineral build-up.
✓ Glass & mirrors
Windows, mirrors, shower screens, glass tabletops, and polished surfaces. Streak-free finish with a microfibre cloth.
✓ Floors
Hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, sealed stone, and most sealed floor surfaces. Pair with Spray Mop for a no-bucket mop.
✓ Soft furnishings (spot test)
Carpets, rugs, upholstery, and leather for spot-cleaning. Always spot test in an inconspicuous area first. Avoid wool and untreated natural fibres.
What surfaces should I avoid using Universal Cleaner on?
Universal Cleaner is alkaline (pH 12.5), which means a few materials don't play well with it. Avoid soft metals (zinc, copper, brass), raw (unpainted) aluminium, and aftermarket window tints. These can discolour, etch, or peel on contact with alkaline cleaners. Unknown or unusual surfaces — always spot test first.
⚠ Not suitable for
Soft metals (zinc, copper, brass) can discolour or tarnish. Raw aluminium can oxidise or pit. Aftermarket window tints can peel or cloud. These materials react with alkaline cleaners, not just Universal Cleaner.
How do I spot test Universal Cleaner on a surface?
Pick an inconspicuous corner or hidden area (the back of a cabinet, underside of a chair, hem of upholstery). Apply a small amount of diluted Universal Cleaner to a microfibre cloth, wipe gently, and wait a few minutes. Check for discolouration, etching, or surface change before cleaning the full area.
✓ Quick spot test
Pick a hidden spot. Back of a cabinet, underside of a chair, hem of upholstery, or a corner that won't show.
Apply a small amount of diluted cleaner to a microfibre cloth and wipe gently.
Wait a few minutes and check for discolouration, etching, or surface change before cleaning the full area.
