What do you mean by “no chemical nasties?”Updated an hour ago
TL;DR: When we say “no chemical nasties,” we mean every Koh product excludes all substances banned by the GECA Cleaning Products Standard.
The Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) eco-label sets strict rules for cleaning products to protect human health, the environment and social welfare. Here’s what their standard bans or limits, none of these appear in Koh formulas:
Human-health safeguards
- No CMR chemicals: Substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction are prohibited.
- VOC limits keep asthma-triggering fumes low.
- Fragrance & enzyme restrictions reduce allergy risk.
Environmental safeguards
- No phosphorus / eutrophication agents.
- Limits on aquatic-toxic ingredients and mandatory biodegradability.
- Support for sustainably sourced palm oil.
Social & packaging criteria
- Zero tolerance for green-washing; claims must be proven.
- Fair pay, equal opportunity and safe workplaces required.
- Packaging efficiency & recyclability mandated.
By meeting (and often exceeding) these criteria, our products deliver a powerful clean without the ingredients GECA flags as harmful. That’s what “no chemical nasties” means to us, and to you.
