Which fabrics should I avoid?Updated 8 days ago

TL;DR: Don’t use Stain Remover on wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca, rayon/viscose or linen. On other fabrics, do a quick spot test in a hidden area first.

Fabrics to avoid

  • Wool
  • Silk
  • Cashmere
  • Alpaca
  • Rayon / Viscose
  • Linen

These fibres can be sensitive to enzymes and may weaken, fuzz or lose colour when treated.

Safe-use checklist for other fabrics

  • Read the garment care label.
  • Spot test: Apply to a hidden seam, wait 5-10 minutes, then rinse and check.
  • Treat stains as soon as they happen and avoid letting them dry.
  • After pre-treating, wash as normal and rinse well.

What to do if used by mistake

  1. Rinse the area immediately with cool water.
  2. Handwash gently with a mild detergent suitable for delicates.
  3. Avoid heat until you’re sure the fabric looks and feels normal.

If you’re unsure, ask us with a photo of the care label and the stain type and we’ll help you choose the safest approach.
