Why doesn't Koh Body Care lather much?Updated 20 days ago
TL;DR: Low lather from Sensitive Hand Wash or Sensitive Body Wash is completely normal. Both formulas use mild, sulfate-free surfactants that clean skin effectively without producing heavy foam. The amount of lather has nothing to do with how well the product is working.
Why doesn't Koh Body Care lather much?
Foam is a byproduct of certain surfactants, not a sign that something is working. Heavy-lathering washes typically use harsh sulfates like SLS that produce a dense foam, and strip the skin in the process.
Both Sensitive Hand Wash and Sensitive Body Wash are formulated without sulfates. The mild surfactants they use produce a softer, creamier lather instead. It cleans just as effectively; it just doesn't look the same way foam-heavy products do.
Why do some washes foam more than others?
Foam volume comes down to one thing: the type of surfactant used. Sulfates like SLS and SLES foam heavily. They also tend to leave skin feeling tight or dry afterwards.
Mild surfactants clean in the same way, they lift oil and dirt so it rinses away with water, they just do it without the dramatic lather. The skin has no way of knowing the difference. If it rinses clean and your skin doesn't feel stripped, it's working.
