What can I use Universal Cleaner on?Updated a day ago

TL;DR: Universal Cleaner is a no-rinse multipurpose cleaner for 20+ surfaces around the home: kitchens, bathrooms, glass and mirrors, tiles and grout, floors, chrome fittings (with care), and soft furnishings (spot test first). Used undiluted. Not suitable for soft metals (zinc, copper, brass), raw aluminium, aftermarket window tints, or glass with protective coatings like Enduroshield. Always spot test on unknown surfaces.

What surfaces can I use Universal Cleaner on?

Koh Universal Cleaner is a no-rinse multipurpose cleaner that works on 20+ surfaces around the home. In the kitchen: benchtops, splashbacks, ovens, stovetops including induction cooktops, rangehoods, sinks, cabinet faces, and the inside of the fridge. In the bathroom: tiles, grout, showers, bathtubs, sinks, tapware, vanity tops, mirrors, and toilet exteriors. On glass and mirrors: windows, mirrors, shower screens, glass tabletops, and polished surfaces with a streak-free finish. On floors: hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, and sealed stone. On chrome fittings with light spray and a wipe-and-dry technique. On carpets, rugs, upholstery, and leather for spot-cleaning after spot testing first. Used undiluted in your atomiser or spray mop.

Taps, showerheads, and chrome hardware are fine with a light touch. Spray lightly (don't soak), wipe with a soft microfibre cloth, rinse or wipe again with clean water if needed, then dry to avoid water spots. Don't let it dwell on the surface, skip abrasive pads, and avoid damaged or peeling chrome.

What surfaces should I avoid using Universal Cleaner on?

Koh Universal Cleaner is alkaline (pH 12.5) and isn't suitable for soft metals such as zinc, copper, and brass which can discolour or tarnish; raw or untreated aluminium which can oxidise or pit; aftermarket window tints and films which can peel or cloud; and glass surfaces with protective coatings such as Enduroshield, which can break down with alkaline cleaners. These materials react with alkaline cleaners generally, not just Koh. For wool and untreated natural fibres, use a different cleaner. When in doubt, spot test in an inconspicuous area before cleaning the full surface.

How do I spot test Universal Cleaner on a surface?

To spot test Koh Universal Cleaner on an unknown surface: pick a hidden spot like the back of a cabinet, underside of a chair, hem of upholstery, or a corner that won't show. Apply a small amount of undiluted Universal Cleaner to a microfibre cloth and wipe gently. Wait a few minutes and check for discolouration, etching, or any change to the surface before cleaning the full area. If the surface looks unchanged, you're safe to proceed. If you notice any change, don't continue and try a different cleaner. Universal Cleaner is used undiluted, so the spot test reflects the actual product strength you'll be using.
